Deoxidized Art Grant

Lead artist Suki Somersall lost her home and art studio in the fires and has assembled a team of 14 designers and engineers from Autodesk, NASA and Tesla as well as independent artists and sculptors that are collaborating to make the Wing Portal come to life. The 'feathers' on the portal are made from the ruins of houses that were destroyed in the fire. Read More.

We will also be donating to Gwen Darling and Joshua Vaile's project 'Puzzles and Prayers'.
Josh has been missing since May 29, 2019.  They are Burning Man Honoraria recipients and, with help, will bring his vision to the playa. We pray for Joshua's safe return and embrace your spirit, strength and perseverance in this completing this endeavor.  Project details.

A Bit About Us

Deoxidized is a global community of makers, risk-takers, problem-solvers, artists and dreamers. Our camp was founded in 2013 by members and friends of the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO), a global network of entrepreneurs focused on business growth, personal development and community engagement. The core values of EO - trust and respect, thirst for learning, boldly go, make a mark, and cool - complement and expand on the 10 principles of Burning Man. We’ve grown each year on the playa and in 2018 had 140 glorious campers from 15 countries join us.

Bridging Burning Man Artists and Community

We are small team, in a large camp, that gathered camp donations and brought a crew together to help one artist bring their vision to Burning Man. Our intention with this grant is not just financial, it's to bridge the gaps in the communities of Burning Man. We want participants and artists to engage with one another and appreciate not only what the other does, but what they can do collectively.

How Can We Help You Reach Your Goal?

Eye Robot by Josh Vaile was our first grant recipient in 2018. We were able to give him a some much needed funds in order to make it on playa, on-time. We know it takes a village, but cash helps too! Everything costs more, takes longer than you think and then the final push to transport and build is almost a bigger effort and cost that the project itself.

Artist Base Camp

Our grant can be simply opening our camp as a home base to the artist/team and not just a financial component. Our ideal recipient can benefit from on-playa logistical, infrastructure, and helping-hand labor support - including dinners and other food, camp power, a nice shower, big shade, full bar, and an amazing place to call home! This is for Artist support only. You MUST fill out grant application. We are not looking for additional campers.

Just Looking to Get Ahead?

If you are looking for helping hands, we are ready to give that too. If you are feeling confident that things are going as they should in the default world, but are looking for some on-playa commitment, tell us about that as well. We have a team of folks looking to help expedite your on-playa build and get you through those unforeseen breakdowns, fails, and weather work stoppages.

Thank You to all applicants!
We look forward to seeing what 2020 brings!

Please share with us any thoughts or ideas you may have to better support the communities of Burning Man. We open our doors to you every day on playa with daily talks, classes, and workshops. In the late afternoon, we host our playa-famous "dEOxidized Happy Hours" featuring a full bar and live DJs, with music curated by SF based Leyl Master Black of the Space Cowboys. All under a 50' parachute that is hard to miss. We look forward to seeing you there. Thank you!
